Prostate is a small gland in men that helps make semen. There can be several problems when it comes to prostate in men such as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Prostatitis, Cancer and more. What Are Prostate Disease?

There are many types of prostate diseases:

  •  Enlarged prostate: Another name is called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). As you get older, the prostate tends to grow. It is very common in older men and usually less common in men under the age of 40. This can cause problems with your urination due to the press pressure on the urethra.  

Who is more likely to develop prostate diseases?

Depending on the person, some are more at risk than others, but anyone who has a prostate can develop prostate problems. You can develop prostatitis if you have nerve damage in your lower urinary tract or even an infection in the lower urinary tract. This is also called a UTI. Emotional stress is also another factor for prostatitis. 

You may develop an enlarged prostate (BPH) if you the age of 40 or older. If you have family members who carry BPH, this can be a reason as well. Obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and not enough physical activities can also lead to BPH as well. 

Prostate cancer is more likely to develop if you are age 50 or older, or if you have had a parent, sibling, or even child who has it.
